About
I’m Jared, an OT security practitioner based in Oklahoma.
My path into security went through the field:
- Field tech. Installing and supporting machines on site.
- SCADA analyst. Six years building HMI graphics, mapping Modbus registers to tags, writing unit conversions and keeping the servers running.
- Field communications. Licensed and unlicensed radio, cellular modems, VSAT, point-to-point links and mesh networks for remote sites.
- Security. Information security, then OT security engineering, and now OT security leadership.
I also volunteer on industry advisory boards for technical education and speak to students about OT security careers.
What you’ll find here
- Lab notes from my home OT lab: PLC programming, HMI and historian builds, attacks and detections.
- Practical takes on securing remote and field OT: radio, telemetry and RTUs.
- Open-source tools I build along the way, like OT Triage.
